Oct 11 - 70 Degrees! Today we headed out with the car to check out the Barkley Dam. We crossed the bridge over the Cumberland River that is next to the dam.

The dam is a popular fishing spot. There are lots of boats. The launch is just down river from us. It is amazing how close to the dam those boats actually go. On the side of the dam is Lake Barkely. The locks to pass from the lake to the river are to the right side of the dam.

A canal used by pleasure boats and commercial traffic connects Lake Barkley and Kentucky Lake.

Got a nice picture of the great blue heron who was fishing along the shore line. We also see many egrets. They look like a great blue but are white.

We drove down the "Land Between the Lakes" and came across this osprey nest in an electrical tower.

This is a view south of Kentucky Lake that was created when the Corps of Engineers made the dam. This lake is around 180 miles long and is really beautiful.
